Triangles are the building blocks of octahedrons. Here I will show you how to build a triangle in a way that is easy to understand. You can develop some new, better ways to make them.
In fact, when I was building more triangles after this one, I found that I can make them in several other ways. I even found a way to use only one string with one knot, whereas in the triangle I will show you here, you need 4 strings with 4 knots.
As you can see, each ring is made out of 6 beads. So you should verify that there are only 6 beads in the ring after you insert the common bead. However, for the last ring, you need to make a knot before inserting the common bead. Also, you should try to hide the ends of strings.

In this triangle, the last step is making a ring of 6. You can ignore the common bead. Instead of making only one bead common, you can hide the strings in more beads. For example, I hid the strings in 4 beads, 2 in each side.

For making an ochtahedron you need to put 3 of these triangles to make another triangle between them.
